In a new police program, automobile owners in some neighborhoods whose cars are not normally driven between 1 A.M. and 5 A.M. can display a special decal in the cars’ windows and authorize police to stop the cars during those hours to check the drivers’ licenses. The theft rate for cars bearing such decals is much lower than had been usual for cars in those neighborhoods.
If it is concluded from the statements above that automobile theft has been reduced by the program, which one of the following would be most important to answer in evaluating that conclusion?
A: Are owners who are cautious enough to join the program taking other special measures to protect their cars against theft?
The more television children watch, the less competent they are in mathematical knowledge. More than a third of children in the United States watch television for more than five hours a day; in South Korea the figure is only 7 percent. But whereas less than 15 percent of children in the United States understand advanced measurement and geometric concepts, 40 percent of South Korean children are competent in these areas. Therefore, if United States children are to do well in mathematics, they must watch less television.
Which one of the following is an assumption upon in advanced measurement and geometric concepts than are South Korean children?
A: The instruction in advanced measurement and geometric concepts available to children in the United States is not substantially worse than that available to South Korean children.
Nature constantly adjusts the atmospheric carbon level. An increase in the level causes the atmosphere to hold more heat, which causes more water to evaporate from the oceans, which causes increased rain. Rain washes some carbon from the air into the oceans, where it eventually becomes part of the seabed. A decrease in atmosphere carbon causes decreased evaporation from the oceans, which cause less rain, and thus less carbon is washed into the oceans. Yet some environmentalists worry that burning fossil fuels may raise atmospheric carbon to a dangerous level. It is true that a sustained increase would threaten human life. But the environmentalists should relax---nature will continually adjust the carbon level.
Which one of the following, if true, would most weaken the argument in the passage?
A: The natural adjustment process, which occurs over millions of years, allow wide fluctuations in the carbon level in the short term
Nature cannot withstand such fluctuation."
In January there was a large drop in the number of new houses sold, because interest rates for mortgages were falling and many consumers were waiting to see how low the rates would go. This large sales drop was accompanied by a sharp rise in the average price of new houses sold.
Which of the following, if true, best explains the sharp rise in the average price of new houses?
A: Sales of higher-priced houses were unaffected by the sales drop because their purchasers have fewer constraints limiting the total amount they pay.

(18)The following is an excerpt from a memo written by the head of a governmental department.
“Neither stronger ethics regulations nor stronger enforcement mechanisms are necessary to ensure ethical behavior by companies doing business with this department. We already have a code of ethics that companies have agreed to follow it. We also know that the code is relevant to the current business environment because it was approved within the last year, and in direct response to specific violations committed by companies with which we were then working- not in abstract anticipation of potential violations, as so many such codes are.”

AWA:
Premise: We have approved a code to enforce the ethic of a company.
Conclusion: New enforcement and regulation can't ensure the ethic of a company at the end.
Reasoning:
The approved code of ethic regulation can't apply to all companies in all situations since each company has its own character.
It's hard to monitor if all companies follow the code in all situations even though they agree to follow it.
It's better to have a supplementary code upon this approved code when each company deals with different depts.

Automobile theft has been reduced by the program
2.
50. Although computers can enhance people’s ability to communicate, computer games are a cause of underdeveloped communication skills in children. After-school hours spent playing computer games are hours not spent talking with people. Therefore, children who spend all their spare time playing these games have less experience in interpersonal communication than other children have.
The argument depends on which of the following assumptions?
(C) Children who do not spend all of their after-school hours playing computer games spend at least some of that time talking with other people.
After-school hours spent playing computer games are hours not spent talking with people.
In my view, the reasoning in this argument is that:
nature will continually adjust the carbon level a sustained increase in the level of carbon would not threaten human life.
The statement of E points out that even the nature will continually adjust the carbon level, wide fluctuations in the carbon level in the short term will exert the remarkable negative to the human life.(Common sense tells us that the life of human is often less than 100 years)
So, E is the correct chose.

。。ORZ。。。

Conclusion:
Evalutate:
3. Argument:
Condition 2
Argument: No worries
Explanation:

1. 58’s P: if the car has a decal, police can stop it between 1am to 5 am.
P: theft rate is lower for these cars than other cars
C: theft rate in total has been reduced by the program
2. 46’
P: if more television, then less mathematical competence.
P: more than one third of American watch more than 5 hours tv, while only7 percent of the Korean watch.
P: less than 15 percent of American understand geo, while 40 percent of Korean.
C: to improve US math competence, must watch less tv.
2)advanced measurement, geo concepts=mathematical knowledge.
3. 1’09
P:natural could adjust carbon level by the circle: carbon—heat—water evaporated—rain—human life
P: increased level of carbon will damage human life
C: not worried, the nature will adjust itself
4. 27’ P: sales of house drop---interest rate for mortgage reduced—average price of house increased
5.
P: we have a code of ethics
P: the code is relevant to current business environment that was approved last year, and in direct response to violations of companies we were working
C: we do not need ethics regulations and enforcement mechanisms to ensure ethical behavior
1. 错误假设:wrongly assume that the relevant code of ethics we currently have is sufficient to ensure ethical behavior
2. 错误假设:assume that the code that was approved last year is still relevant to current business environment, assume that the business environment did not change within the year
3. 例子代表性:assume the violations by companies we were working are representative of all the possible violations of current companies we are working. Assume that there are no additional or new violations under the current business environment

Day eight
In a new police program, automobile owners in some neighborhoods whose cars are not normally driven between 1 A.M. and 5 A.M. can display a special decal in the cars’ windows and authorize police to stop the cars during those hours to check the drivers’ licenses. The theft rate for cars bearing such decals is much lower than had been usual for cars in those neighborhoods.
If it is concluded from the statements above that automobile theft has been reduced by the program, which one of the following would be most important to answer in evaluating that conclusion?
A: Are
67’
Key:是由于这项规定减少的(而不是还有别的原因)or是在1~5am发现的thief减少special measures to protect their cars against theft?
The more television children watch, the less competent they are in mathematical knowledge. More than a third of children in the United States watch television for more than five hours a day; in South Korea the figure is only 7 percent. But whereas less than 15 percent of children in the United States understand advanced measurement and geometric concepts, 40 percent of South Korean children are competent in these areas. Therefore, if United States children are to do well in mathematics, they must watch less television.
Which one of the following is an assumption upon in advanced measurement and geometric concepts than are South Korean children?
39’
Key:排除会使数学技能差的他因eometric concepts available to children in the United States is not substantially worse than that available to South Korean children.
61’
Nature cannot withstand such fluctuation."
In January there was a large drop in the number of new houses sold, because interest rates for mortgages were falling and many consumers were waiting to see how low the rates would go. This large sales drop was accompanied by a sharp rise in the average price of new houses sold.
Which of the following, if true, best explains the sharp rise in the average price of new houses?
A:
