5. Carbon-14 dating reveals that the megalithic monuments in Brittany are nearly 2,000 years as old as any of their supposed Mediterranean predecessors.
(A) as old as any of their supposed
(B) older than any of their supposed
(C) as old as their supposed
(D) older than any of their supposedly
(E) as old as their supposedly
Choices A, C, and E do not state the comparison logically. The expression as old as indicates equality of age, but the sentence indicates that the Brittany monuments predate the Mediterranean monuments by 2,000 years. In B, the best choice, older than makes this point of comparison clear. B also correctly uses the adjective supposed, rather than the adverb supposedly used in D and E, to modify the noun phrase Mediterranean predecessors.
上面蓝色的那句 为什么要older than 而不是as old as?b or c没看明白句子意思
好强啊~同对同错 谢了gg
不明白为什么A 和C可以同对同错,要注意到supposed的后面是Mediterranean predecessors,所以 必须要用到any才可以。
Predecessors : One that precedes.
1. Read the entire sentence carefully. Try to understand the specific idea or relations- hip that the sentence should express. (First sentence of OG SC Part...)
上面的兄台想说明什么啊,我不是很理解,可否用中文解释一下,谢谢。
另外,我仔细看了一下,发现
Carbon-14 dating reveals that the megalithic monuments in Brittany are nearly 2,000 years as old as any of their supposed Mediterranean predecessors.
这个句子前面的比较对象应该是megalithic monuments 是复数的概念,那么后面的比较对象是不是也应该是复数才能对应啊?如果是这样的话,any of their supposed Mediterranean predecessors所表达的意思(按照我的理解)应该是单数吧,因为有个any。

predecessor的含义是one that precedes; especially : a person who has previously occupied a position or office to which another has succeeded(from Merriam Webster)
按照ETS的解释,答案B如果改成older than their supposed 是否也对呢?
我对any of their supposed 和their supposed 的区别不是很清楚,请大家讨论。
那,用any their supposed Mediterranean predecessors可以吗?不用of
any there supposed predecessors 这种说法应该是不符合习惯的。
这道题用比较级的关键在于划线部分前面是 2,000 years ,如果不是比较级,前面不能放 2.000 years
同意楼上的意见。
因为即使PREDECESSORS的意思可以提示我们以前大家认为两者之间有时间的差别,可是新的观点就不能认为AS OLD AS 了吗》?、
所以还是只有 2000 YEARS 的使用上找突破。
同意lz,如果是用as, 应该是
2000 years old, as old as any of …
个人认为,这里区分older than 和as old as 是一种语言习惯;我们可以说 I am 20 years older than he.
但是我们不能说I am 20 years as old as he.
我想请教一下,any of their ...算是双重所有格吗?

为什么不能呢?
那应该怎么说呢?
P.S.应该是"as old as him"
个人认为这样说表意不清楚也不简洁
如果你俩是同岁,任何一个年龄都是一样大的
I am 20 years as old as he.
我和他20一样大,感觉怪怪的,那你俩现在多大?
不如说we are both 20 years old. 或 we are at the same age.
请指正!
