答案为D，B错在哪里了呢？

主谓一致句子中后面部分-----the preoccupations of their own time.中 their决定了主语要使用复数这样就排除了a 和c；选项b中用了will 时态不对，题目说的是一个一般事实要用一般式；d选项造成fragment，主语and连接的是两个主谓完整的句子。

GMAT语法中，多采用A of B结构，而不采取B' A结构。

b的their让人误以为是energy，而实际应该指的是cars
