标题: 关于主谓宾结构+状语，先行词。。。的问题：OG12 SC43
Laos has a land area( about the same as Great Britain but only four million in population,where many) are members of hill tribes ensconced in the virtually inaccessible mountain valleys of the north.
括号里的是错的，OG上说是因为the same as 前后的比较的不是同类事物，这个我理解，还有一个原因是where无法修饰population，这个我就不懂了，where为什么不能是修饰前面的Great britain或者land area呢？这个问题再引申就是：主谓宾结构+状语，which（where，when，who）。。。什么时候修饰主语或者宾语，什么时候修饰前面状语中的名词呢？

where作为定语从句，肯定是修饰最近的可以被修饰的词（当然，GMAC对这点有点模棱两可，一般是语法上有资格给修饰的最近词）
where从句作为状语，是修饰全句的

你说的修饰主语的情况，多是,+ing这种因为修饰前面的动作，所以认为同时需满足主语的逻辑一致性

OG解释说，关于Laos有two main claims，一个是关于land area,一个是关于population的。but后面那些就是第二个claim，所以后面的where从句怎么可能跳过第二个claim到第一个去呢。这是我的理解
