Anthropologists assert that culture advance only when independence replaces dependence---that is, only when imposition by outsiders is replaced by initiative from within. In other words, the natives of a culture are the only ones who can move that culture foward. Non-natives may provide valuable advice, but any imposition of their views threatens independence and thus progress. If one looks at individual schools as separate cultures, therefore, the key to educational progress is obvious: which one of the following best completes the passage? (A) individual schools must be independent of outside imposition (B) some schools require more independence than others, depending on the initiative of their staffs and students (C) school systems officials must tailor their initiatives for change to each individual school in the system (D) outsiders must be prevented from participation in schools’ efforts toadvance (E) the more independent a school is, the more educational progress it will make
key: A
知道A是对的,但是觉着D也算是对的。我想知道“Non-natives may provide valuable advice, but any imposition of their views threatens independence and thus progress.”

For D, not outsiders must be prevented, but any imposition of their views must be prevented. Because Non-natives may provide valuable advice, but any imposition of their views threatens independence and thus progress. Therefore, the schools can accept the valuable advice but not the imposed views.作者: cakeala 时间: 2011-7-17 22:39

From "Anthropologists assert that culture advance only when independence replaces dependence", we know that what matters to educational progress is Independence or Dependence, rather than the extent of Independence, and no information in this CR indicates that the extent (More independence or less independence) of Independence has any bearing on the educational progress. For a Filling-type CR, the conclusion must be deduced from the information in the text, if any elements in the answer choice is beyond the scope of the information given in the text, than the choice must be false.
In the following I will translate this CR into Chinese, wish it help you:
From the translatoin above, you can see that this CR is about Independence and Dependence, however, in choice E, it does not mention Dependence at all.
