这道题选B. upward to 不是动词吗?...

啊? 是副词啊

那是看成接of的名词性短语了~~

despite后面接名词性成分
比较简单的就是despite+noun(+modifier)
然后比较有争议的despte the fact that不一定是错的，不能作为排除项
despite+ing 如果这个ing是gerund那么也是可以的
