不知道此句中的as many……as是做成语用还是做比较状语从句的连词？

另：关于in that 和 because 的区别，字典上好像说二者没有区别，但我记得kaplan中有一道题讲in that其实可以于how同意，而since, because, due to可以通用。请大家给出自己的见解，谢谢

我的理解：187题中，把所有修饰成分去掉后，句子的主语，谓语是many (Americans) be killed 。在明确这点后，就可看出此句中的as many……as是做主语的定语。

另：in that 和 because 的区别在于，BECAUSE表示明确的因果关系，回答WHY提问的问题，例如，为什么有白天和黑夜的分别？BECAUSE地球公转的同时还自转。IN THAT是对一个观点陈述后进行补充说明理由，例如，老虎油是一个迷人的GIRL，IN THAT她的眼睛会放电。

多谢老虎油姐姐的解释，我也对这个问题有疑问呢，不知道because与in that有什么区别.
OG 208题就是这样用的in that

Teratomas are unusual forms of cancer( in that they are composed of tissues such as tooth and bone,tissue )not normally found in the organ in which the tumor appears.

感觉符合姐姐说的in that 的用法！

我想补充的是：80%情况下，ETS不考察IN THAT 和BECAUSE之间差别，应该有其它更明显的语言点。
