标题: prep2-196 比较省略，老错省略的题目！！！
Soaring television costs accounted formore than half the spending in the presidential campaign of 1992, a greaterproportion than it was in any previous election.
A. a greater proportion than it was
B. a greater proportion than
C. a greater proportion than they havebeen
D. which is greater than was so
E. which is greater than it has been
选B, 我选的A,
我想的是B的话就是一个名词和时间状语比较了，不平等。
笔记解释A it指代的是agreater proportion整个短语，错误，应该用that来指代proportion，但是因为只是名词短语的比较.，that可以省略而不带任何歧义。

这就是说than后面的部分因为主语和谓语都是一样的，时态也一样，所以就把这俩都省了？

这样说的话，那下面这个题目
全10. A large rise in the number ofhousing starts in the coming year should boost new construction dollars byseveral billion dollars, making the construction industry’s economic healthmuch more robust than five years ago.
(A) making the construction industry’s economic health much more robustthan five years ago
(B) and make the construction industry’s economic health much morerobust than five years ago

(D) to make the construction industry’s economic health much morerobust than five years ago
(E) in making the construction industry’s economic health much morerobust than it as five years ago
选C,
A项改成 .....than was five years ago是不是也对了？因为it 就是指前面的construction industry’s economic health.
it可以省，但是比较前后时态不一样，所以was不能省？

应该是的。反正你就记住it 和 that的区别一个指同一个，一个只同一类中的另一个

可以省略的部分必须前面出现过。
1.Soaring television costs accounted for more than half the spending in the presidential campaign of 1992, a greater proportion（指代前面more than half） than（the proportion TV costs accounted for of the spending) in any previous election. 比较成分 in the presidential campaign of 1992和in any previous election.

2...., making the construction industry’s economic health (now)much more robust than it was five years ago.实则省略状语now，比较成分为now 和 five years ago。因为原文没有now，比较不对等，比较成分前面没出现，需要补上主谓。否则就变成economic health与five year ago比较了

想请教您一下，对于时间状语的比较我在平时的学习中特意留心过，prep08上的总结是这样的
A do Sth. than usual/everbefore/people expected. （直接加状语）
那这个总结是不是错了呢，它前面也没有对应的时间状语而是直接就加了呀，为什么不会有歧义呢

..., making the construction industry’s economic health much more robust than five years ago.会引起歧义，等于是the construction industry’s economic health与five years ago做对比。这些要慢慢看多几个例子体会。

你说的A do Sth. than usual/everbefore/people expected. （直接加状语）的，很多题也出现过。个人觉得，首先要看句子省略以后是否有歧义，无歧义看需要省略的短语前文已经出现过。分析句子是可以看比较级修饰的对象是什么，比较的对象是什么（两边要平行），结构是否相同如：
1.OG15的65：Digging in sediments in northern China, scientists have gathered evidence suggesting that complex lifteforms emerged much earlier than previously thought. （earlier做状语修饰 emerged，是一个时间，而 previously thought前省略了“时间",同样是时间，状语比较。结构相同，没有歧义）
比较一下另一个句子：
2.The economy might be as weak as（the economy） some analyst previously thought.（weak 修饰主语，主语比较，the economy前面出现过可以省略，结构相同）
这两个句子都不会产生歧义。
3.而..., making the construction industry’s economic health much more robust than five years ago.（robust是做表语修饰construction industry’s economic health，后面make A five years ago的five years ago做状语。这个句子结构已经改变，前面是做表语后面是做状语，因此不能比较）

例如,体会一下:I walk as fast as when I was younger(X) 比较的是fast，walk的状态，也就是when I was younger这个时间walk的状态。而不是walk的时间（when I was younger）与walk的状态比较。
         I walk as fast as I walked when I was younger.(对)
         I walk as fast now as（ I walked） when I was younger.（对）

另外，比较位置不同，表达的意思也不同。
例如 Rice has protein of higher quality than did wheat.(主语比较）
   Rice has protein of higher quality than that in wheat.(宾语的比较）    这两个都是对的
