Although fruit can no longer grow once it is picked, it continues for some time to respire, taking in oxygen and giving off carbon dioxide, similar to the way human beings breathe.

(A) similar to the way human beings breathe

(B) similarly to human beings who are breathing

(D) as human beings when breathing（E）

(E) just as human beings do when they breathe

白勇同学在讲这道题时没有讲清楚为什么C不对。请问是不是因为like在表达比较含义时，不是书面用语？

just like这种表达本身就是错的，like表达比较，如你所言，不需要在前面加just。

OG在91中给出了just like的解释：Just like are unnecessarily wordy。

我觉得just like 还有just as 差不多，看来just as可以，just like就是罗嗦了？

Just like是错误的表达方式，请参考OG91的解释。

just like can not be used in written english but oral english

and furthermore

similar to/contray to will also be wrong when it appears in the choices

呵呵，答案E也有不好的地方

human being 在 breathe的时候做什么呢？什么都做的吧。。。

按中文说肯定是说就像人的呼吸一样，不会说像人呼吸时干的事情一样吧

E makes sense because respire is doing something, like human beings do (breathing).

C is comparing respire to the gerund (a noun) - the breathing of human beings. definitely wrong.

taking in oxygen and giving off carbon dioxide, 不能被视为一种方式吗？similar to the way human beings breathe中，the way可以指代taking in oxygen and giving off carbon dioxide吧？
