标题: 请教GWD31-38 指代对象、语义重复问题 还有5天一战！请大家帮忙 ^ ^
In1852 Robert Angus Smith published a detailed report of the chemistry of rain kin a large area around the city of Manchester, England, noting that the closer one came to town, the more the city air would become increasingly acidic.
A.that the closer one came to town, the more the city air would become increasingly acidic
B.that the city air became increasingly acidic the closer one came to town
C.that coming closer to town, the city air became increasingly acidic
D.that the more the city air became increasingly acidic, the closer one was to town
E.the city air becoming increasingly acidic as one would come closer to town
这题答案是A， 我选了C。我觉得A错误的理由是：one指代对象不清，且more 和increasingly有语义重复。
不知道大家是怎么做这道题的呢？ 请大家帮忙解答一下哦！

记得前两天也有人Q这个题，当时还不知道kin是嘛意思，后来查了下（我根据wiki上的背景猜的）
of kin→be close to/be ralated to
the chemistry of rain kin→the chemistry close to rain→the chemistry of precipation 即降水化学（待验证= =||）
Back ground info from Wikipedia:
In 1872 Smith published the book Air and Rain: the Beginnings of a Chemical Climatology, which presents his studies of the chemistry of atmospheric precipitation

没一个make sense。。。不知道one指代虾米。。。

选A的理由：
1、关于the more...the more...结构：
前面一个the more是从句，后面一个the more是主句
主句的内容随着从句内容的变化而变化，强调的是后面主句的内容，所以主句和从句的顺序是不能随便交换的；因此我认为BDE不妥，排除
2、然后剩下A和C：
从时态上看，只有A最恰当：the closer X CAME, the more adj. WOULD BE
C的时态是：X coming, the more adj. became，时态混乱
关于the more...the more...结构的时态，我觉得通常就这么4种：
1. the more A do, the more B do
2. the more A do, the more B will do
3. the more A did, the more B did
4. the more A did, the more B would do

这里的意思， 就是说 当一个人走的离城镇越近的时候， 就会发现越多的城市空气变的越酸
这句就是在讲那个家伙的的， 什么酸雨报告的， 大体就是这个意思哈

one就是指一个人的意思。。但是我关于report的说法也是对的。。
这个人做了个实验，研究降水里的化学物质，然后他发现，离城市越近，空气酸度越高。。。over

Not like "it, its, they, them ,their", the word "one" does not require an antecedent.

这里的意思， 就是说 当一个人走的离城镇越近的时候， 就会发现越多的城市空气变的越酸
这句就是在讲那个家伙的的， 什么酸雨报告的， 大体就是这个意思哈

其实这里C还有一个问题就是，that后面以coming开头，现在分词在句首，其逻辑主语应该和主句的主语一致，也就是说the city air是coming的逻辑主语，这不合逻辑吧~
至于more和increasingly重复的问题，这里能不能理解成more作比较级修饰increasingly呢？
随便编个句子：The more books you read, the more you will understand clealy. 也不知道这个句子对不对，大致就是这个意思啦，就是可以把后半句看作you will understand more clealy。同理，这个题就是the city air would become more increasingly acidic……【这个真不确定，自己是这样理解的，同求NN指点】

more 修饰空气， increasingly修饰后面的那个形容词

菜鸟的理解：
that the closer one came to town, the more the city air would become increasingly acidic.这句中more与increasingly,构不成语义重复，因为the more... 表示越来越多地。。。而increasingly acidic表示逐渐加强的酸度，所谓的语义重复我的理解是同一个中心内容用了相同语义的词来修饰

个人觉得C可以选。。C并不是the more ，the more的结构，coming closer to town的主语是他和city air 意思好像也是对的
如果A的话 more和increasingly重复 应该是GMAT语法不能容忍的错误吧。。

首先A中的one并不指代前面的任何一样东西，它泛泛的指代某一个人
接着C中错误非常明显，coming 做伴随状语逻辑主语怎么可能是the city ，所以错
最后，对于more 和 increasingly 重复的问题，其实我们很少见到比较级出现语义重复的现象，也很少通过这个来判断对错。这里increasingly 修饰acidic 意思是“加剧地酸化”，而the more 指的是这种“加剧酸化”的趋势增强啦，这样理解可能会好一点

one泛指人，没有问题，不需要有特别指代对象，有时候我们也用many就直接称呼人了。
A里面more和increasingly重复了。

A里面的话，the more 是修饰后面整个成分的：the city air would become increasingly acidic. 所以和increasingly重复了。

这道题目的正确答案是B而不是A。详解如下：
1、more和increasingly不能连用，故AD错；

题没读懂 kin a large area-。- 怎么看 怎么是错别字 是 in a large area 还差不多
B 改变越题的逻辑意思了 这个不好
C 缺逻辑主语 不知道说的谁越近越咋地了

A选项使用虚拟语气，也似乎不对，因为这是个事实，（离城市越近，空气酸度越高）而非可能性。

我觉得the more 和increasingly在这里没有重复，the more 是指air数量，increasingly是指酸性增加。但我无法理解the one，有一团团可数的气团吗？

这题我在GMATprep遇到了，答案B。A明显的累赘，the more 和increasingly同为副词。向前面的同学说的，one应该指代rain。the closer one came to town是用于比较的状语从句(adverbial clause)

国外论坛上GMAT专家的解释如下：
A: THE MORE the city air would become INCREASINGLY
D: THE MORE the city air became INCREASINGLY
Here, the more and increasingly are redundant.
Eliminate A and D.
In C, coming seems to be modifying the city air, implying a nonsensical meaning: that the CITY AIR was coming closer to town. Eliminate C.
In E, noting the city air implies that Robert Angus Smith was noting the AIR itself.
Not the intended meaning.
Rather, Robert Angus Smith was noting what the air DID:
THAT the city air BECAME increasingly acidic.
Eliminate E.
但是选B的话that the city air became increasingly acidic the closer one came to town这句话是什么语法结构呢？不太懂the closer one came to twon 是什么成分。而且意思上当一个人走的离城镇越近，城市空气就变的越酸？人走进跟城市空气变酸连接起来感觉不合逻辑
然后C的话我觉得coming closer to town是做the city air became increasingly acidic的伴随状语，意思是当城市空气离市中心越来越近的时候，它会越来越酸，就像地理学的空气流 从郊区吹响市区的感觉，我觉得这样很合理，但是那个expert说扭曲意思了，不太懂，求指教

我个人觉得more和increasingly没有重复哦，因为more应该是much的比较级，就像前一句的closer是也是副词closely的比较级一样（平行）
