除了not verb...but verb...之外，are...but are...也是一种平行，即not在平行之外.

but连接的东西要平行啊。。。。。这和not的位置有什么关系。。。。
这又不是什么固定搭配，就是but引导的平行结构啊。。。。

我感觉贴的这道和楼主贴的那道在考not but上没什么区别啊，楼主贴的are not the products of natural selection，...，but are simply random by-products （正确答案）
笔记上说：was not produced by…, but was produced by 不平行，这不跟上面的结构一样的。。那该怎么解释？？版主说除了not verb...but verb...之外，are...but are...也是一种平行，即not在平行之外. 那应该两种平行都可是对的才对啊

但是，还有一种场景容易与这个固定搭配混，那就是not 否定词的时候
A is not B, but is C 这个也是对的啊，这个平行就是but的平行了，不关not事了

谢谢你的解释。但这么一来was not produced by…, but was produced by 可以看做是与not没有关系的but平行啊，我感觉not...but...是强调平行即平行的两个对象的，而单独的but是强调后面的C的，但是感觉实战中不是很靠谱，像这题一样，不能区分重点强调的是什么啊，或者说was not produced by…, but was produced by 和 was not produced by...,but produced by 都对？

我这样理解，偏方哈·。。。如果不是严格not。。but，可把but翻译成但是。are（not）...but are...，不是sth，但是（是）sth。而be not...but do，不是sth，但是do sth。。EG: He is not a scientist but knows a lot.

我个人这样理解，不把不是严格的not...but翻译成不是...而是.例如：不是严格not。。but，可把but翻译成但是。如are（not）...but are...这种情况，翻译成不是，但是（是）；be not...but do，不是sth，但是do sth. 例句： he is not a scientist but knows a lot.

我认为aeoluseros 说的对
总共有两种情况。
这题D选项不是结构不平行的问题，而是和C选项对比，不够简洁，was produced by 前后都出现了，我们知道题目比较的by...状语，因此不如把not 放在produced 的后面。
关于 be not..., but be 可参照manhattan 55页上的例句： Dr.Crock's claims have not been corroborated by ... but have nonetheless granted.... 总结下就是not 加在助动词（have， be）或者连系动词(be)后面时， but后面跟完整的谓语结构。
