这个是不是表示的是条件暗含在短语中的省略虚拟从句？ 这里有一个词 increasingly 表示增加，说明这个公司已经去和别的公司竞争了。但是过去却是想要 conceded to rivals （让步给竞争对手）（没有真的这么做。） the company 本应该退让却没有退让。所以用虚拟。 they would in the past have conceded to rivals. in the past 指明了过去的时态。 同时整个主句很明显是现在的完成时，所以从句的比较对象是过去。
