Q1:

So dogged were Frances Perkins’ investigations of the garment industry, and her lobbying for wage and hour reform was persistent, Alfred E. Smith and Franklin D. Roosevelt recruited Perkins to work within the government, rather than as a social worker.

  • and her lobbying for wage and hour reform was persistent,

  • and lobbying for wage and hour reform was persistent, so that

  • her lobbying for wage and hour reform persistent, that

  • lobbying for wage and hour reform was so persistent,

  • so persistent her lobbying for wage and hour reform, that

So dogged were Frances Perkins’ investigations of the garment industry, and her lobbying for wage and hour reform was persistent, Alfred E. Smith and Franklin D. Roosevelt recruited Perkins to work within the government, rather than as a social worker.

    1. and her lobbying for wage and hour reform was persistent,
    2. and lobbying for wage and hour reform was persistent, so that
    3. her lobbying for wage and hour reform persistent, that
    4. lobbying for wage and hour reform was so persistent,
    5. so persistent her lobbying for wage and hour reform, that

    我选(C), 主要是这句用倒装so adj...........that

至于画线部份为her lobbying for wage and hour reform (that is )persistent 为investigation的同位语

句子结构是investigations were so dogged, 独立主格, that...

    I take E.

    I will vote for E

    so that

so dogged were her investigations, so persistent (was) her lobbying, that A&B recruited her to work within.., rather than as..

Frances Perkins’ investigations of the garment industry were so dogged, so persistent her lobbying for wage and hour reform, that,,,,

这里so persistent her lobbying for wage and hour reform 是同位成分还是插入成分,个人倾向插入成分.

    I agree with Xiaoxue;

So..., absoulte phrase which modify the extent to which the investigation was dogged, that...

    To be discussed...

Maybe choice E is the key, but I can't see anything wrong with C. As a adverbial part, C seems OK. The inversion and the "so" in E look not good.

So dogged were her investigations of the garment industry, and so persistent her lobbying for wage and hour reform, that she was first recruited by Gov. Al Smith, and later by Gov. Franklin D. Roosevelt, to work within New York State government, rather than against it
