官方解释说是B与is的平行会有歧义。。。
看不出来。。。
求解释

要是extends就应该是和is一起修饰fungus吧。。。我想是这样
但LZ，这题我也不大弄明白，extending是和sprawn一起平行？迷惑。。。

"that is an interwoven filigree..."和"is extending"平行，如果是"extends"就不平行了。

纠正：

OG的解释是：Extends is a present tense verb, not the participle needed for parallel structure; the ostensible parallel between extends and the distant verb is is superficial and would result in an awkward and unclear sentence. (Extends是一般现在时，不是平行结构需要的分词；extends和is只是表面上的平行，会导致整个句子有歧义。)

从句意上，extending和spawned是平行的。spawned指过去发生的，extending表示事情的影响一直到现在

我一开始也做错了，不过我错选的是C.extended.
我觉得首先要决定动词的主语，谁extend(s/ing...)？题中有两个选择，一个是fungus，另一个是rootlike tentacles，很显然rootlike tentacles更合适。

所以整个句子的结构就要分层切开:
A giant fungus that is [an interwoven filigree of mushrooms] and [rootlike tentacles (spawned by a single fertilized spore some 10,000 years ago) and (extending for more than 30 acres in the soil of a Michigan forest)].

简化的话就是 [P] and [P(p and p)], (而不是从句that后的[P(p and p)] and [P])。从而判断动词原形extend要和spawn搭配。这时候只有两个选择:extended或者extending。由主句living看出该货还活着，所以是extending.

我觉得这个句子分层切开应该是A giant fungus that is an inter woven filigree of 【mushrooms and rootlike tentacles (spawned by a single fertlized spore some 10,000 years ago) and (extending for more than 30 acres in the soil of a Michigan forest)】

是【A and B (c and d)】

如果extend是修饰tentacle的选择A倒是不难理解，可是OG的解释是“The giant fungus is described as an interwoven filigree spawned... some 10,000 years ago and extending for more than 30 acres”，也就是说这个extend是修饰filigree的啊

个人理解：spawed和extending是修饰tentacles的，spawed可以表示被动含义，extending可以表主动含义（触手主动延伸）

OG上写the present participle extending parallels the past participle spawned.所以我觉得这两个词应该是修饰同一个名词的
