标题: the usage of which ?
I'm a little confused over the usage of which.  Could somebody
tell me which of the following two sentences is correct?  Or are
they both correct?

"I just emaied you a picture of  the Golden Gate bridge, which I took a few days ago."

(which is used to modify picture).

"I just emaied you a picture of  the Golden Gate bridge, which is a beautiful landmark of San Francisco."

(which is used to modify the bridge).

Thanks in advance!

    我觉得两个which修饰Golden Gate bridge和a picture没有什么区别

换句话说:我觉得1句中的which也可修饰the Golden Gate bridge,2句中的which也可修饰a picture ,没什么不妥

    修饰要按逻辑意思判断,但一般的,修饰词紧跟被修饰对象,这样的句子比较清晰。

    但不要以修饰上可能存在的歧义来断定一个选项的错误

    一定要看其他错误。其他都一样的时候,选没有歧义的选项

agree with dreadpower 版主! from http://forum.chasedream.com/dispbbs.asp?boardID=23&ID=50035&page=1:

"Which" can refers to A or B in phrases such as "A of B" or "A for B" as it's illustrated in OG (#119, #137... pls. search through OG). Every time bunnier made up a rule, it was quikcly overturned by another ETS' SC. Except for a few tabus, the usage of "which" is quite flexible. Its reference can be determined with at least 3 methods: (1) subject and verb agreement; (2) the logic of relationship between "A of B" and "which"; (3) the logical meaning of the entire sentence.

In [any] case, 其他错误一定要看, because other errors may contribute to the confusion of which's reference. The bottom line is that when a sentence introduces any confusion, it is wrong. The "forest" must be more concise, relative to other answer choices.

Hi dreadpower and bunnier,

Thanks a lot!  Bunnier's comments are very helpful.

Sorry that I'm new to this forum and haven't find time to browse through earlier posts.

Best,
Robert
