A B中，based 和 basing 语法上的主语是scholars,但是从逻辑上讲，他们的主语不能是scholars. C D不够简明扼要，很罗嗦。 就剩下E了。
同意。 主语和谓语的原则是必须同时存在，但是based basing 的主语并不是scholars（scholars Based on accounts of various ancient writers不对呀），而且找不到based的主语是什么。所以based 就缺少了主语。改成Using accounts of various ancient writers,最好
