can you give me the exact structure of the sentence? i don;t know, in additon, can you pose more examples the same as the one ?thank you ~

First, the distinction of "so that" and "in that"
Both of them suggest a causal relationship while the content after "so that" is the result but after "in that" is the reason. eg. The battary died so that the torch doesn't work. The torch doesn't work in that the battary died.

So according to experience, if one of them is tenable here, it should be "so that". But, in alternative A it comes at the end of the choise doesn't agree with troubles, and in B, attempts at is not idiomatic.

Hence, D is the only one left...

关于D中定语从句先行词that的指代内容不是很清楚，
语法上指代 blunders 可是感觉逻辑上指代 stagnation,missteps & blunders 三项内容，求指点~

that 指代的是result。。。

A之所以错我觉得有两个原因，一是 a result of 表示了原因，后面又出现so that，看起来的很累赘；
二，逻辑关系混乱，若像A所说，电脑的公司的问题由于T,T,M引起，于是attemp都fail，根本就说不通嘛
三，correct it中的it指代不清晰。
