Currently European BOUTIQUE S&T. MBA,AT THAT TIME 2 YEARS EXP出来可以从ASSOCIATE做起,就业比较乐观,CAREER PATHS能更广阔些
1,去MIT,准备在NY或者HK就业,LONDON (HAVE WORK PERMIT)放最后救急
风险/CONS
MIT MFIN,只一年没有INTERNSHIP,出来怕失业 1 YEAR EXP, 因为工作经验不够,基本上从ANALYST做起, 25 YEARS OLD ANALST..........
WORST CASE SCENARIO NO ADMISSION BY ANY OF TOP M7。

nobody?...
It depends on the market. 25 year old 2nd/3rd year analyst isn't the problem. you will be associate in 26/27. There are so many out-of-MBA associates at 30.
If your goal is S&T then you should just do this MFE. You should have no problem if the market is ok. Worst case you can still go get your MBA after working for 1-2 years after MFE.
I have thought about that option, i.e. mfin + mba. Some says it's quite abundant and should not be considered unless you want to change career track, let say from S&T to IBD then finally PE...
You should do MFE to S&T. MBA after S&T is not ideal, that's only if you end up at a S&T product you don't like, or can't get into S&T (like risk management).
MFIN is good for IBD Analyst level作者: xiaoyi2015 时间: 2011-3-18 09:19
Could you find a better place to spend 1 yr than MIT?

IBD is cool, tons of exit opportunities compared to trading... however I want to work with my brain and not my kidney... a friend of mine passed out during a meeting having worked a year at a BB ibd... but considering the exit opportunity, I still consider it a option though... I know that's contradictory...
I was asking advice but if you are locked into trading, I will advice you to go for an MFE =) MBA will give you fundamentals and some good stuffs about derivatives, but you will never learn how to model volatility curve using different models and things like that作者: infu 时间: 2011-3-18 16:23

actually no... I don't like my current job... I'm doing Sales with a quant focus due to the new regulatory measures... and it's boring like hell...
I know several people that got into HBS/Stanford with less than 2 year exp... but they were from MBB of course, or GS/JPM/MS IBD Analyst with minority background...
Hi Infu, I don't know much about Chicago, but it will be difficult to get into Columbia with a two year work experience. Columbia seems to be diversifying away from admits with finance backgrounds so competition will be up a notch for you. Columbia seems to strongly favour candidates who have participated in some form of rotational programs within a reputable firm, and such a program might be difficult to complete with a mere two year experience.
