imo, we have the word"may", thus no subj verb agreement error
here is a problem with the verb tense,imo.
the original meaning of the sentence is "although the term may suggest sth based on its name, OVER TIME the actual meaning has changed or it has included some other things".
we just need to use SIMPLE VERB TENSE to express the first part. <the word meaning based on the name will not change, and the logical meaning is clear>前面更多表达的是根据字面理解这个这个词的意思,这种理解方式得出的对词的释义是不会变的,用simple tense即可;而且只有一个完成时可以清晰表达在实际情况中,这个词的意思不断在发生变化,逐渐有了其他的深意或者涵盖了其它内容,逻辑清晰。
