(A) like that of earlier generations (B) as that for earlier generations (C) just as earlier generations did (D) as have earlier generations (E) as it was of earlier generations
Here the OG Answer is "E".
But as per OG, like is used to compare nouns. So shouldn't "A" and "B"be the answer ? Are we not comparing the below two in this question ? 1. Goal of earlier generations. 2. Goal of current generation. and i think the E answer should be added "that ",in this way, it seems more appropriate.

E对我能理解，可是A错在哪里？A的like + that +of结构不就等于E的as + it was + of结构？如果说E的it was指代的是bla blah was a goal，那A的that指代的是goal不是也和前面对的结构平行？
