in terms of physics,the characteristic feather（主语） of the rollor coaster is thatthe potencial energy （从句主语）of the cars,后面是定potential energy 的一个句子，描述potential energy的如何形成（gained as a chain drive lifts them through the earth's gravity to the top of the first drop）,has been converted to kinetic energy by the time the ride ends.
