标题: 目标Finance 或 Economics PHD 是去Schulich 还是 UBC MBA 纠结中~
GMAT 710， GPA 3.0， WE 6年
为了移民只申请了加拿大的学校，虽说读MBA是为了能在当地立足，但将来还是倾向回国或是上PHD。和Schulich的人交流一直不错，也知道他们排名前三，可是对York的reputation实在不敢恭维，对多伦多的冬天也是心有余悸 温哥华四季如春，UBC的reseach也相当知名，读完UBC MBA想来对将来申请他们的PHD应该也有好处，可是被他们的就业形势吓到。
还有一周就要做决定了，真不知道如何是好。请各位前辈提提建议吧！万分感谢

- mba和phd两回事 单从mba考虑 schulich比ubc好 多伦多比温哥华就业机会多很多

PhD和MBA确实很不一样。
York 很不好吗？
是指York整个学校的reputation不好还是指MBA program不好？

我说的是York University 的 reputation 不怎么样，特别是他们的 graduate program。当然Schulich是个例外，但是母校的名声对商学院多少还是有点影响的。
我当然知道PHD和MBA不一样，可是我undergraduate GPA 不佳，又没有什么文章发表，直接申PHD肯定没戏。所以就先申了4个MBA，想一方面读出来可以在当地工作两年，一边读一边看看自己有没有上PHD的实力和精力。如果不行就直接工作算了。
从这个角度考虑去UBC的话觉得会不会近水楼台先得月，和Prof混个脸熟，说不定对以后申PHD有什么帮助。对York的PHD没有什么兴趣。

申了Rotman，Schulich，UBC，SFU四家。Rotman被Ding，Schulich 和 SFU已拿到offer，UBC下周面试应该问题不大。
我是1月5号左右递的申请，3个星期后Schulich没有面试就直接录取了，说是给6周时间考虑。所以是到月底28号要做出决定。
我在多伦多和温哥华都呆过，说实话非常想念温哥华，但是UBC MBA的各项排名和温哥华的就业情况使我百般纠结，不知道何去何从啊！！

其实我觉得你没必要纠结，加拿大很多PhD项目和美国不太一样，大部分需要Master
虽说有些可以接受本科，但是对本科GPA 要求会很高.
你可以都申请。录取以后再纠结，不录取的话你就白纠结了。

sorry 我写上一个的时候，还没看你最近评论呢。你自己想清楚自己喜欢教书还是在公司。 想清楚以后就不就结了。 Econ PHD 90% 是教书。

但是你现在在申请MBA作为过渡。 你的倾向已经很明显了，UBC MBA 比较合适。

就是不知道MBA对以后申PHD有没有帮助。我以前McMaster的经济学教授说如果目标是PHD的话就去读SFU或者渥太华的Econ MA， MBA没有什么用。可是我又怕万一以后如果不读PHD的话拿个ECON MA一点用也没有~ 郁闷~

Do not come to Schulich. I am a Schulich PhD student. Was a horrible decision to come to Schulich. In terms of resources, Schulich sucks...

The program is not well structured. The funding is terrible. The PhD program does not have a right culture. Plus, you need to take a number of courses outside of business school, which York lacks. The university is located in the middle of nowhere.

你能说下Schulich的费用情况么？
我知道奖学金是一年22000， 学费每学期多少？ 一年几个学期呢？学费之外的杂费和书费多少呢？
我也申请了Schulich，再等他们消息。多谢大侠。

Sadly I was rejected by Rotman... I only applied Rotman, UBC, Schulich, and SFU. It seems like UBC is the better choice in my case, I guess.

Although the tuition is free, but I still have to pay for my living expense, especially I have a family of four to support.

Im not sure but i think normally MA/MSc should be funded whereas MBA is not, so you can def look into a MA. SFU is a good school if you find the right prof. I know someone with a MA from sfu and phd at ubc

如期收到UBC 的Offer, 决定放弃Schulich去UBC! Beautiful British Columbia, here I come!
