标题: ACCA Affiliate wants to be a member of ACCA
Hi,

I have passed the ACCA exam, but I have only 2 years and 3 months experience in accounting. Now I am not in the field of accounting. I changed to another industry.
Is there "any possible way" for me to be qualified such as some people who can sign the qualification for me?

Just feel so bad that if I dont try to be qualified, the ACCA will be wasted.

Hi, congratulatons to be one of ACCAs. You have been doing very well.

You can certainly gain the membership with finance relevant work experience.
It doesn't have to be accountig experience. Instead, the experience of financial analysis, equity analysis, credit analysis, project management and of so many other is all acceptable to the membership recognition.

If your line manager is not ACCA or CPA qualified, you ask the qualifid accountant in your organistion to co-sign it for you with the line manager.

In short, it is not that difficult to get your experience recognised by ACCA as long as you are not doing completely irrelevant job such as secretary.

Hi LBMIF,

Thank you, but I am doing an irrelevant job. I work as a teaching assistant in accounting at one of the universities in Hong Kong. I knew that teachiing experience can be counted towards practical experience for one year and I did.
After that, I still have around 7 months to go....... that's why I think it may be wasted. Do you have any suggestion?

Hi, there, you're welcome.

I would suggest you to double check with ACCA. They will give you more solid info.

Well, if it is in the worst case that you're unabl to apply teaching expeience for membership, I suggest you to do a financial or accountng job in part time base. ACCA approves the part-time work for the requied experience. I guess you shoud have plenty of spare time as a teacher.

Wish you get the membership soon. It definitely worths to apply for. You'll gain much more resources from ACCA as a fully-qualified member.

Hi LBSMIF,

Because we are prohibited to do partime work, I am afraid it wont work. Especially the faculty will have large of connection with the companies.

I am thinking that I may start a company to invest in property (openning a company is cheap in HK) or something else and then I do all the accounting for the company and hire auditors to do audit on my company and have them sign the experience form for me.

I am wondering if it will work. or is there any other way an auditor can sign the forms for me?

Hi, ckylwy,

To be honest with you, I am not entirely sure if you can ask the auditor to sign it for you.

Usually ACCA requires the qualified accountant who supervises you to sign off the experience for you. The supervisors are likely your line manager and the CPA in the orgainistion.

However, if you own the company and also do the accounting work by yourself, there may be a leeway that you can get the tax authority or perhaps the auditor, who should be fully qualified accountant, to sign it for you.

I would suggest you to log in your ACCA account and verify all the details before you decide to go down that route. Alternatively, you can simply pick up the phone and give ACCA a ring.

Best of luck. BTW, you really have many qualifications. Hope you will contribute more to both Mainland and HK.
