我选的D，正确答案是E。我想知道D选项为什么错？although这里为什么不能用？还有thus在这里的用法？哪位NN能帮忙解释一下啊？！！谢谢谢谢！！！！

我觉得although表示转折， when表示“当。。。的时候”，逻辑上这里应该是一个在什么情况下的意思。

浅见而已，我看了一会，觉得应该是E，也挣扎了一下，in this way 也不是指状态，可能有点牵强。请大牛指点。

这样来说when和although的互换会造成逻辑的偏差，但in this way和thus的互换是因为后者比较简洁还是因为in this way只能修饰谓语动词不能表状态呢？？？还是非常感谢你的讲解！！！

我觉得although表示转折， when表示条件，逻辑上这里应该是一个条件的从句，是两个情况下的对比。

浅见而已，我看了一会，觉得应该是E，也挣扎了一下，in this way 也不是指状态，可能有点牵强。请大牛指点。

对不起，是我说错了，条件还是要用if的，when就是什么的时候，你放进去理解下看看，不好意思，误导了。

我一开始也选D，但是觉得E更好。理由如下：
1、remains in this way, 总觉得别扭， 如果是remains this way, 那我义无反顾选D
2、although 与前面衔接不正确。总体感觉是时间上的关系，under heat and pressure, ...., after heat and pressure are removed. 没有转折的意思。
个人觉得最佳答案为： remains this way even after the heat and pressure are removed. 但是没有。

Original meaning "whether or not" heat and pressure are removed. This is bidirectional, heat and pressure can be removed or not removed.

Choice D is using "although" means heat and pressure are certained to be removed, thus changing the meaning.
