(C)appear as equipped to face any obstacle the environment could put in their paths,
(D)appeared as equipped to face any obstacle the environment could put in their paths,
(E)appeared to have been equipped for facing any obstacle the environment could put in their path,

还是不太懂~OG说“their apparent abilities cannot be present tense",是说A &C 中equipped 是现在时吗？那是不是意思原来是 appear as ( they are ) equipped...？那么，为什么不是省略了 they were 呢？ 既然现在灭绝了，那为什么不能用过去时呢？作者: luckysss 时间: 2011-1-24 15:14

是不是 因为but 后面的句子说灭绝是发生在P era所以已经暗示灭绝是发生在过去，所以发生在灭绝之前的也就是拥有这种能力这件事要用过去完成时作者: 伊禾1990 时间: 2011-3-16 15:09

今天做到OG 12 73题了，所以来挖下坟，大家勿怪。 对这里完成时态的用法，我觉得从另一个角度理解可能更有普适性。
这题涉及不定式完成时态——to have done——的用法：
不定式的完成时态表示的动作发生在谓语动词动作之前。
由于appear to是个固定搭配，要使后面加的动词发生在appear之前，这才使用了不定式的完成时态，appear to have equipped作者: 小福娃欢欢 时间: 2011-5-11 04:18
五楼关于完成时的解释说的非常清楚。 再次确认下，我能否这样理解，不定式里面，不管是现在完成时还是过去完成时，都只用一种完成时，即现在完成时来表达？
还有一个问题是，这里的appear和indicates这两个动词，大家讨论的时候说应该是平行关系，所以appear应该用现在时。我能够理解 indicate可以用现在时态，因为从逻辑上来讲，N‘s relatively sudden disappearance虽然发生在过去，但是这作为一个现象，不管在过去，现在还是将来，都indicates that an inability to........
