针对于目前国内申请最热的金融硕士专业，哥大的这个专业无疑也是一个很好的选择。

The Finance and Economics Division of Columbia Business School is pleased to announce the launch of a new Master of Science in Financial Economics program, which will admit its first class for September 2011.

申请要求：Application Checklist
· Nonrefundable application fee (U.S. $75)

· Official GMAT or GRE scores
· Official TOEFL scores (international applicants only)
因为是新增课程，申请人数自然比老专业申请的人数少，截止日期也比较晚，更有利于申请。
该专业隶属于商学院。

感觉跟MIT的那个差不多，听说去年MIT 也有很多人进，比较注重GMAT。

我填申请的时候就发现他们吧phd和这个专业分开了，而且没要求说自己的research经验。
不申白不申，买个希望，进了就爽啦~~

The Master of Science in Financial Economics degree is designed for students who wish to pursue a more analytical and focused course of study in finance than that offered by Columbia Business School’s MBA Program, but who also prefer a shorter and more industry-oriented experience than the School’s Doctoral

The Career Management Center (CMC) at Columbia Business School works with students to help them build lifelong career management skills. Hello,

Our fall 2010 class, 7 students, is our first group of MS students. I do not have statistics on applicants’ backgrounds but the applicant pool was similar to that of our doctoral applicants. Quantitative scores were 90+ percentile and the majority came to us direct from their undergraduate or Masters program. Most do not have work experience, nor it is required for the MS in Marketing. Our MS in Marketing Program is geared toward people who would like to build expertise and sharpen their analytical skills in any one of three areas: Innovation, Market Research, or Branding/communication.

The final deadline for all MS in Financial Economics applications is April 1, 2011. Our online application is up and running now.

We will accept either the GRE or GMAT exam, we expect applicants to have similar scores as our doctoral candidates – so mid 90% on the quant sections.

We hope to have an entering class of seven to ten students.

在我的理解就是为那些有实力读PHD但是申请PHD或者找工作不太顺利，并且家里不缺钱的人准备的，可能这样的人不多，但是招10个左右一点问题没有，年年都有好多冲击TOP PHD FIN失败，又不愿意去读些普通的，或者学校REPUTATION不好冲击TOP IB失败的人。祝牛人好运了~

关于这个项目，还有人在持续关注吗？

我觉得问题到不在于学费，这个和MBA的学费是一样的，MBA都要贷款，这个也应该能贷款的，只不过是 co-signer loan罢了。也不在于academic level，国内本科毕业生具备海外博士入学水平的人很多的，我当年是如此，现在更是如此。

问题主要在于program本身，难道说这个项目的毕业生只能去读Ph.D？不能找街上的工作吗？读Ph.D可是另外一条路呢

I wish I could send you some stats on the program, but September 2011 will be our first entering class. We anticipate an entering class of 7 - 10 for Fall 2011. Our MS applicant pool should be similar to our doctoral applicants. We expect quantitative scores of 90+ percentile and work experience is not required for the MS in Financial Economics. We require only self-reported scores (either GRE or GMAT) in order to review your application. You may also upload scanned copies of your transcripts.
