Correct answer: from students who object to particular activities, so long as the groups given money are

因为这句话的意思怎么都理解不了，

so long as和前面半个分句的逻辑关系我也不是很清楚，

另外就是最后一个their的referent是什么也不清楚。

求高人指点！谢谢。。。

题干中最后一个their指代的只能是groups 因为最后半个句子是完整的主谓结构通过指代原则只能指代groups

被楼主一说的话我发现so long as解释起来我也不是很明白求解

首先回答你们的疑问，so long as和as long as一样，都表示条件。所以A选项用will，错！而且能省去不用定语从句，尽量不要用。
选项BC，they指代大学的话，逻辑上说不过去。
选项E，but the groups that are given the money be中使用be原形，没有依据。

对于整句话的意思是说：法院判定大学可以向学生收取活动费，尽管这些学生对其中的部分活动表示反对，而这一切的条件是the groups given money to are chosen without regard to their views。最后半句不知道，group应该是活动承办方（被给钱），their应该是代指学生，因为前面谈过学生反对，就涉及了学生的观点。强翻的话，就是：不顾学生的想法，选择那群拿钱举办活动的团体。

今天查到这道题，最后的Their的确是指Groups，参考众多翻译我的理解是：

最高法院裁定公立大学可向学生收取活动费甚至是向对某一特定活动反对的学生收费，只要这些被给予活动费的组织被选择与否不是取决于（考虑到）这些组织的观点（比如说大学喜欢唱歌就给唱歌社活动费，不喜欢跳舞就不给跳舞社活动费,这是不行的）。

我也看了好多解释现在给自己的答案是

大学可以跟学生收钱就算学生不同意只要不是这个社团想要钱就给钱就行给钱与否由大学官方决定

呵,终于看懂这句话的意思了。学生们并不喜欢学校的一些活动，但是学校依然向学生们收取活动费,只要学校愿意拿钱办学校选择的活动，学生们的意见无所谓。

这个句子连起来之后是这样的：

那么我有这么一个问题，这句话的“,”之后的部分也是一个完整的主谓结构，so long as是一个副词性的词组，怎么可以连接两个主谓结构的句子呢？这不构成所谓的“Run-On”错误了吗？

此外本题的B选项, if they have objections to particular activities and the groups that are given the money are

答案说此时referent for they is student activity fees。这我就不太理解了，明明前面有两个plural noun（还有一个是universities），要说illogical，两个都illogical，为什么不说指代的是universities呢？

呵,终于看懂这句话的意思了。学生们并不喜欢学校的一些活动，但是学校依然向学生们收取活动费,只要学校愿意拿钱办学校选择的活动，学生们的意见无所谓。

仔细想想，可以理解了。我的点是“只要拿到钱的社团被学校选中”。这样一来as long as 也不显得wordy了。

我觉得句子的意思是说：
最高法院裁定公立大学甚至能向反对特定活动的学生收取学生活动费，即使这些活动是在没有考虑学生们的意见的情况下选出的。

根据我对美国法律精神的粗浅理解，大学给学校里的学生团体或组织发放经费时不能因为团体的观点不同而不给或少给。美国最敏感的事就是不能有歧视，包括观点歧视。
这道题出处的背景一定很特别，一般案件地方法院就解决了，不会上诉到最高法院，还需要最高法院来做出裁决。最高法院只解决一般性，原则性的问题，比如解释宪法，一旦判定，以后各法院就以此案为判例。那么这个案子估计也是涉及了一些比较模糊，难以取得一致同意的情况。
如果是自愿捐款，肯定要尊重捐款人的意愿。但是如果是学校收取的fees，再平均发下去，一些同学也许不同意某些团体的观点，这样一来，客观上就违背了这些学生的意愿，估计就被这些学生告上法庭了。
最高法院这样判下来，结果似乎也比较合理。
没有更深的法律知识背景，只能猜到这个程度了。
所以最后的那个their 很可能是指groups.

我的理解是，最高法院规定学校可以向那些即使是反对部分活动的学生收费，只要被选中能拿到钱（这笔钱是学校向包括反对部分活动的学生收的）的社团也没有顾及他们（社团）的意见

大概是要表达一个平等的感觉。。收活动费不管学生的意见，那么拿钱的社团的意见也不该被考虑

最后应该是，学校可以向反对活动的同学收钱，只要学校是保证他们给钱的那些团队，并不是基于学校自己主观的立场建立起来的，without regard to their views的their和前面的they give money的they都指学校。

之前也以为their是指代学校，后来仔细读了原文，还是要从meaning出发吧，their指代的应该是group。设身处地地想想，如果学校收了我们的钱去给那些大多数学生喜欢的社团作经费，那对少数不喜欢这些社团的同学来说是不公平的。然而众口难调，采纳部分学生的意见就一定会有部分利益受损的人。最高法院为了保护每个学生的权利的平等，最终决定活动经费的发放不考虑学生的意见，学校收钱，学校决定开办什么样的社团，愿不愿意参加，那是学生自己的问题了。

同意16楼的理解，他是推理出来的，真是厉害。不过话说真是被各种题干折磨的体无完肤呀，虽然不太影响选项，但是这是英语素养呀。没有上下文理解起来真的是困难。

请问各位，为什么og解释说a选项:“with....” is awkward and dense呢？不知道awkward 和dense在什么地方呀...
