B. Nearly 99 percent of five hundred species of living creatures appeared on earth have vanished.

E. Of the five hundred species of living creatures that have appeared on earth, nearly 99 percent have vanished.

答案E，B为什么不对

The A Research Institute of America advices women of color that they have twice the likelihood to get the osteoarthritis of the knee as do white women.

B. that they are twice as likely as white women to get osteoarthritis of the knee.

答案A，B错在哪？

第一道题，以前争论过很多，到底什么是正确答案好像还没有定论呢。

第二道题，B的错误是不是因为advice后面的从句要用动词原形啊？请牛牛指正。

第一题，1st, B中appeared修饰有歧义，可能修饰中心词99%，也可能修饰500 million species或就近修饰creatures. 2nd 过去分词appeared表示被动完成语意不通。
E中使用定语从句完成时修饰500 million species，语意通畅且修饰无歧义。E还原为99% of 500m of creatures that … have vanished. 为了避免修饰有歧义，特意将定语从句及其修饰对象500 m species提前。

第二题，B advice后面的从句要用动词原形BE，可A用AS引导句子表比较，虽然可以但感觉不好。如没有其他更好句式such as more… than or as … as的话也就只好是它了。

答案应该是B. advice 这里同 inform. A中的"the likelihood to" unidiomatic, 而且 the osteoarthritis 里的"the"也不好. B比较完美.

tony的看法应该是对的。

A的as连接方式状语从句，意思不对，而且不应该到装。

补充：1、同意选E；

E中的the特指已经出现在地球上的那500种生物，说话更严谨一些。。。

2、是不是有题目有误？

题干中的advices没有这样的动词，advice是名词；advise才是动词。我查了朗文和牛津都没有advice能做动词的字条。。。所以~~~ 不能胡乱说它是虚拟也不能说它不虚拟（像suggest暗示那样）。

当然，撇开以上的虚拟与否，我更觉得they are twice as likely as white women to get 优于they have twice the likelihood to get

据我所知，九十年代开始美国有出现了一个不好的用法, 即将advice 等同于advise. 为什么我不知道，但事实是蔓延极广，似乎已经侵入了standardized tests. 可以随便google一下,比如 " he advices to", 用法俯拾皆是.

不明白为什么选E，能不能帮忙分析一下E选项的语法结构。

同位语修饰，道地是哪个修饰哪个？主句是不是应该主谓齐全才是正确的语法结构。

第二题, AB真的不太好区分.B用的是twice likely, 用twice 修释likely(可能的),好象不太对. 而A中用了twice the likelihood(可能性), 感觉上好点. 也就是likely和liklihood的区别.

所以应是 they have twice the likelihood to get the osteoarthritis of the knee as the likelihood of white women to get that disease
