A中crossing gypsy moths with adult silkworms的逻辑主语很容易误认为是 the gypsy moth

而且,in an attempt at developing 感觉蛮罗嗦的...

第2题crossing gypsy moths with adult silkworms这部分动作应该是由主语发出的,而主语是the gypsy moth ,所以不好。

1)查WEBSTER和longman后发现 ability和capability 都可以用为: ability to do sth , capability to do sth 的形式, 虽然在某些时候especially 与specially可以互换,但是在书面语中especially语气更重,因此选A

capability:the natural ability, skill, or power that makes a machine, person, or organization able to do something, especially something difficult

ability:1[countable] the state of being able to do something

2[uncountable and countable]someone's level of skill at doing something

longman:

attempt n.

attempt at (doing) something
her feeble attempt at humour

第1题

Webster's

especially    adv.
1 : SPECIALLY 1
2 a : in particular : PARTICULARLY <food seems cheaper, especially meats> b : for a particular purpose <built especially for research>
3 ― used as an intensive <an especially good essay> <nothing especially radical in the remarks>

specially    adv.
1 : in a special manner <treated her friends specially>
2 a : for a special purpose <dresses made specially for the occasion> b : in particular : SPECIFICALLY <made specially for you>
3 : ESPECIALLY 2 <makes a specially fine curry> <was specially pleased with the gift>

我觉得第1题的especially应该是其第三个词意:used as an intensive <an especially good essay> <nothing especially radical in the remarks>。
