标题: JP M Operations or CS Product Control?

You will have to work a lot harder in JP, and that's why there's 15% diff.

Operation is just follow procedure and very meticulous kind of job, but has a very slim shot, if any, to make to the front office. And eventually you will be replaced by people in India or China.

Product control requires more analytical skills, and closer to the trading desk, where most people want to be.

It is really a no brainer !!!!!! Go with Credit Swiss, a much easier and more friendly environment.

Thank you very much. It seems that you assume I am not in China. Impressed about that. Can I ask you what you know about product ctrl? or JPM? Just want to know more... and it's Credit Suisse...

product ctrl : do valuation of products, some product can be very complicated,  make sure trader is not lying about their profit, so you will have to know the products.

operation: book trade, cancel trade etc, paper pushing (back office). unless you will work on a trading desk then it becomes different.

JPM: American company, hence higher salary but more work hours. Fast pace!
CS; European company, lower salary but less work hours. slower pace! You will not be laid off as easily as that you are in jpm.

Sounds like you are not going to hold this job for that long, so when you apply for MBA. Product control looks a lot better on the paper than operation, and 15% is not much difference given you work most likely one hour less everyday in CS. Also, If this is your first job, then you pay is not very high, and 15% is not much after tax !!!!

Think long term!!!!!

Now you have convinced me.
I worked in CS PC for 6 months for internship, you are right saying that the work is much more challenging than booking and cancelling trades, I am convinced. Thanks. Interestingly, my friends and peers around are trying to convince me of taking up the JPM. All about perspectives...but ya I know what I want now.
