I don't know much abt traditional IBank ops, but for trading related ops, it means trade booking, recon, event, risk control, product control, settlement, pnl ..... in summary, all biz supporting (non decision making) functions r ops ...interesting when u r learning new things, but could be very boring afterwards, especially ur responsibility does not change much over certain period ...
if u just want to take a relatively easy/avg+ paid job, ops is not a bad choice, but if u really want to achieve sth, it offers little opp作者: lisaolly 时间: 2010-11-1 17:25

product control or risk are different job functions.
product control is responsible for pnl production while ops is not
ops do trade booking, settlement, cash management, asset servicing, payment...In APAC, most of the time, middle office trade support is sitting with trading desk in Hong Kong, while the rest are deployed to Singapore, India.
