Which of the following can be inferred from the letter?

(A) The number of applicants for summer jobs in the government office exceeded the number of summer jobs available.

(B) The applicant who received the letter was considered highly qualified.

(D) The application of the person who received the letter was considered carefully before being rejected.（A）

(E) Most of those who applied for summer jobs were considered qualified for the available positions.

我对这题的答案存有疑问, 从文中我们可以infer出是funding不足, 但未必和申请人数有直接关系, 也许是申请这人对payment要求太高,等等, 所以A是原文不包括因素的主观的臆测. B才是最明显的inferrence.

B不一定啊.

For further disscussion:

Can we use "NOT" to test the answer for INFER questions? For example, if NOT A, the argument in question does not hold. If NOT B, the argument will not be affected.

那能不能帮我把原题和A之间的逻辑推理关系澄清一下, 我理解这个意思, 但是严格从逻辑分析角度, 我找不出推理关系.

Actually, it can be inferred from these two sentences "it is impossible for us to offer jobs to all those who want them. Consequently, we are forced to reject many highly qualified applicants." Use reasoning or logic makes this question more complex than necessary.
