!!!...!!!中间是这道题的划线部分和答案，从语法上讲可以理解，但我没有办法理解这句话的意思和层次，请NN帮忙，谢谢~

举个例子来说，

西瓜是夏天有的，冬天想吃西瓜就是off-season demand, 通常反季节的东西卖得贵。所以，农民种暖棚西瓜的话，可以一年四季都销售，获得更大的利益。

为啥要用 to standardize its size and colors呢?其实不懂的点在to那里...
