Africa's black rhino population in the mid-1970's numbered about 20,000, ten times the estimated population of 2,000 in 1997.
A. the estimated population
B. that of their estimated population
C. more than the population's estimated amount
D. more black rhinos than their population estimate
E. more than that of their population's estimated amount

答案是A，其中BDE的their指代不清，C中的population和amount作比较了，逻辑错了，只剩下A，不过对于A在句子中的作用还是不太明白，ten times the estimated population of 2,000 in 1997这段应该是20,000的同位语，不过XX times后面直接连接名词的结构好像没有见过，一般都是XX times + 比较级 + than，请问这是什么语法现象？请NN指点：）

表示倍数是可以直接用倍数（数字+times）的，就像double后面是可以直接加名词的。
这句话的主语是Africa's black rhino population ，谓语是ten times ，宾语是the estimated population
没有同位语的

我觉得好像主语是Africa's black rhino population，谓语是numbered，宾语是20,000，然后补充一下这个20000是1997年population的2000的10倍，你看这样是不是也对呢？

呃，这么一说貌似我看错了，把numbered当成是定语来修饰population了，不过好像不能这么看。
楼主说的应该是对的, numbered是谓语。 ten times the estimated population of 2,000 in 1997应该是补语

那这里ten times + N的结构是不是就有问题了？应该加比较级么？还是确实有这种用法？

倍数+N的用法的确是正确的，举一例，PREP2007-PART2-87-E
the automobile company's earning in the first quarter were more than double those of the previous quarter.
那么这里一样可以说more than ten times those of the previous quarter

刚又看过一道类似的题，看过语法笔记，这里说的更清楚一点吧。
以“地球比月球大六倍”这个句子为例，下面简单讲一下表示倍数的句型结构。
[1] 倍数的表示一般情况下为：数字＋times，如六倍即为：6 times。比较特殊的是两倍，为twice
[2] 要表示地球比月球大六倍，我们一般可以有下面三种最基本的表示方法：
a)主谓＋倍数＋as 形容词原形 as＋宾语：The earth is six times as large as the moon.
b)主谓＋倍数＋形容词比较级 than＋宾语：The earth is 6 times larger than the moon.
c)主谓＋倍数＋形容词对应的表示量的名词 of＋宾语：The earth is 6 times the size of the moon.
其中，形容词与其对应的表示量的名词，包括large/big – size, long – length, wide – width等等.
也就是说，倍数+N这样的结构后面跟的名词一般是和形容词对性的表示量的名词，和double又有点区别了，double是可以直接做动词的，比如double the number of ....

其实这里说拿number和number作比较也可以，说拿population和population作比较也可以，除了性质不同外，实际上20000就是population的number，但是这里number和number作比较不能用more，而应用higher or greater，这种下意识的感觉应该在几遍OG后培养出来

ten times在这里的词性是a.还是v.？逻辑主语是20000还是population in the mid-1970’s？越看越糊涂了。。。

CD上原来有一个帖子说了有关倍数的表达方式其中讲述得很详细由于找不到原帖的地址了把我留下的记录给你看看呵呵希望有所帮助看完这个神贴对倍数问题那是茅塞顿开很管用！一踢一个准！

倍數辭句型的用法敘述:
結構︰…倍數詞＋the（或所有格）＋名詞
說明︰此句型意為“是…的幾倍”。
<倍數詞>與<名詞>之間一定有 the 或<所有格>。
有時可改為“<倍數詞>＋as＋<形容詞>”。三倍以上的“倍”，通常用“times”。
而“more than＋<倍數詞>＋the（或<所有格>）＋<名詞>”譯為“是…的幾倍還不止”。

相同的分析例题
In the 1980’s the rate of increase of the minority population of the United States was nearly twice as fast as the 1970’s.
(A) twice as fast as
(B) twice as fast as it was in
(C) twice what it was in (C)
(D) two times faster than that of
(E) two times greater than

回到上面的倍数表达式
倍数加something 这题是the rate was twice something.
(B)something 不能是 it was in .... 它是一个句子. 可以改为: twice as fast as the rate that was in the 1970's. 不够简洁, 所以有了 what 引出的句子. what it was in 1970's.
(C) something 是 what

倍数+形容词. xx times taller than something or xx times as tall as something
倍数+名词 xx times something(the/my 名词)
=>>>结果都是something, 它可以有从句来限制/修饰(that... ), 但不能是一个句子, 除非是what 引出的(what 就是那个something)

回到此题.
the amount ... is twice something.
1. that which 不好. "that that" is better, 可是仍旧不够好.
2. 没有something
3. as 不配对.
4. that emitted annually by all. something 是that, that (that) emitted annually by all.
5. compared to 是多余的,twice 已经在表示比较了.

上面说的情况是倍数的表达，不适用于所有的比较，只限于倍数的
然后这个题目么我觉得首先是平行的概念主句部分结构是主语+have been+killed byXX B中的结构是最能表示平行的
然后是比较对象的对等 A. less than those those指的是什么呢?shark?movies?还是people?
B. fewer than have been fewer表示变少了 than后面应该是省略了和主句重复的部分，也就是people
C. movies,which is less than those which指代成movies,those指代不清
D. movies, a number lower than the people 主语是people，用a number表示不妥当吧还有就是a number跟在movies和逗号后面是不是指代有歧义呢？
E. movies, fewer than the ones 这里的fewer紧跟在逗号和movies的后面，那就有指代上的问题了,fewer是指movies么？还有后面the ones的指代，这里也可以产生是指代man-eater的歧义吧

什么倍数比较规鬼贴，就在这里误人子弟，我认为就只有主系结构加倍数才符合你以上规则，如you eat food twice more than do I

A选项的的谓语有numbered，我觉得times也是谓语，但是这样就两个谓语中间无连接词了，求问times不是谓语的话是什么词性什么成分？
