(E) Using a Doppler ultrasound device, a physician can detect fetal heartbeats by the twelfth week of pregnancy.

OG上，对D的解释：

In choice D the phrase using... device should follow physician, the noun it modifies.

难道说D改成： By the twelfth week of pregnancy, fetal heartbeats can be detected by a physician using a Doppler ultrasound device，这样就对了吗？

就像你所改以后,仍然不如E好,因为被动显得罗嗦.

另外,从句意上,好像D把By the twelfth week of pregnancy提前,修饰整个句子,而不是修饰fetal heart-beats ,改变了句子的原意, 不知道本人理解是否正确,请牛人指正,谢谢.

by引导时间状语在D,E两项中位置不同，对整个句子的把握到底有没有影响？

楼主的修改是对的。但是还是没有E选项好，比E罗嗦。自己体会一下。

我也有这个疑惑。搂住这样该行不行呢？先不考虑wordy的问题，但看语法结构和逻辑意思是否可行。

个人观点是OG这么说是想避免分词主语的歧义, 如果分词在句子中间, 前面又有名词, 则比较容易歧义, 就好想这题会歧义为fetal heartbeats

我不同意！我認為by the twelfth week of pregnancy就是用來修飾fetal heart beats的～看正確的E選項就知道了～而且”懷孕12週”修釋"偵測”detect太怪了～應該是”懷孕12週大的嬰兒的心跳”

回楼上,by the twelfth week of pregnancy是时间状语我觉得不是修饰fetal heartbeats做定语,而是修饰全句,所谓修饰全句,实际上就是说谓语动词发生的时间与这个时间状语的时间是一致的.所以我当时想的是这是时间状语提前后与谓语动词的关系.而且by作为介词不能翻译成....的如果是懷孕12週大的嬰兒的心跳”应该是fetal heart-beats of the twelfth week of pregnancy

意思是"到了怀孕的第12周"正确选项e的意思是

Using a Doppler ultrasound device, a physician can detect fetal heartbeats by the twelfth week of pregnancy.

使用多普乐超声波仪器,到了怀孕的第12周一个医生能到测到胎儿的心跳.

而不是

使用多普乐超声波仪器,一个医生能到测到怀孕的第12周的胎儿的心跳.

如果是这样的话隐含意思是岂不是:多普乐只能测到怀孕第12周的婴儿的心跳,第13周,第14周就查不到了?逻辑不通

事隔一个月再回来看此题,感觉大不同,又加深了理解.哈哈

现在感觉d按楼主那么改语法是对的.但改后仍然没有e好

D:by the twelfth week of pregnancy在句首是修饰谓语,意思是:在怀孕的第12周,医生能测到胎儿的心跳.->那其他时间那?

E:Using a Doppler ultrasound device, a physician can detect fetal heartbeats by the twelfth week of pregnancy

这里,by the twelfth week of pregnancy是定语修饰heartbeats,意思是:使用多普乐超声波仪器,医生能测到怀孕到第12周的胎儿心跳.

这题,根据逻辑意思,by the twelfth week of pregnancy是定语修饰heartbeats的,应该紧邻修饰对象heartbeats,放在句首或跟在谓语后修饰谓语则改变句意.

我觉得还有一种解释就是主动优于被动 D明显就是烦琐和被动了啊

OG的解释也可以这么理解吧把use放在physician 让physician做主动
