答案是E。解释说D中的when placed修饰了documented examples导致逻辑意思错误。但是when placed 不是靠近mice的吗？修饰mice逻辑意思没错呀，而且还比E的定语从句简介。这到底是为什么呢？

when S + V 是状语从句只能修饰谓语，因此只能往前修饰到include而无从修饰名词。
此外，when placed省略的主语必然是共用主要从句的主语，因此when placed in a stimulating environment的主语是Recently documented examples而不会是mice。
