In some species of cricket, the number of chirps per minute used by the male for attracting females rise and fall in accordance with the surrounding temperature, and they can in fact serve as an approximate thermometer.
(D) to attract females rises and falls in accordance with the surrounding temperature, and it can in fact serve
(E)to attract females rises and falls in accordance with the surrounding temperature, in fact serving
答案选E，说serving有修饰temperature的嫌疑
但是D中的it不是更加指代不清吗？？它可以指代temperature也可以指代number什么的啊~~ 疑惑~~

但是D中的it不是更加指代不清吗？？它可以指代temperature也可以指代number什么的啊~~ 疑惑~~

it代名词优先指代主要子句主词the number of chirps，没有指代不清的嫌疑。
E我认为最错的地方是possibly无法取代can的句意，原题的can依造句意指的是可以、能（be able to）的意思，而非可能（possible）的意思。

代名词问题我是依造下面顺位判读的：
1.优先指代主要子句或是原句主词，如能指代主词是否符合句意逻辑。
2.如果无法指代主词，则改以就近指代原则，并判读是否符合句意逻辑。
3.是否有重复使用同样代名词（无论在画线与未画线部分）却指代两个不同的东西。

第一顺位的规则并非一定，但如果有两个句子并列，句子中的代名词位于主词位置，则优先指代另一个句子中的主词，这样可以避免主词无谓移转而造成句子结构复杂。
