14. Steven: The allowable blood alcohol level for drivers should be cut in half. With this reduced limit, social drinkers will be deterred from drinking and driving, resulting in significantly increased highway safety
Miguel: No lowering the current allowable blood alcohol level would have little effect on highway safety because it would not address the most important aspect of the drunken driving problem which is the danger to the public posed by heavy drinkers who often drive with a blood alcohol level of twice the current legal limit.

Steven and Miguel's statements provide the most support for that they would disagree about the truth of which one of the following statements?

(A) Social drinkers who drink and drive pose a substantial threat to the public
(B) There is a direct correlation between a driver's blood alcohol level and the driver's ability to drive safely

一个人说，要对酒后驾车更严格把关；另一个人说，现在的标准已经OK。问题：他们不同意下面哪个？答案A是不是说：酒后驾车造成威胁。题目中我读不出他们认为酒后驾车对公众不造成威胁这样的含义。谢谢！

哈哈。。我也错了这道。。我原来选C
看了半天。。我的理解如下：

AA说：通过减少酒在血中含量的标准，social drinkers will be deterred from drinking and driving, resulting in significantly increased highway safety
（言下之意：吓吓他们，让他们不要喝酒了。。喝酒驾驶非常危险啊）

BB说：你怎么净扯蛋咧？现在最危险的是那些超量喝酒的人（超量的定义是指超过当前标准2倍），所以应该增加含量标准。。言下之意，如果喝超量酒才是非常危险(substantial threat)的啊。。

A）喝酒是否对社会构成极度威胁
C ）（我最初选的）喝超量酒是否会对社会构成威胁。可是明显AA也同意这一点，所以A选项。

原题中的问题，是否问“他们两人共同不承认的”？

感觉这个“A）喝酒对社会构成极度威胁”选项，应该是双方共同agree的，而不是disagree的呀。

没有原题问：双方在哪一点不同意。
A 喝酒是否对社会构成极度威胁
正是双方的分歧点。。
AA认为会构成极度威胁（注意是极度）
BB认为未必，只有喝超量酒才会。

您的意思是：题目在问：aa和bb在以下哪个方面意见不一致？

我怎么觉得好像是在问：aa和bb在以下哪个方面意见一致，这个一致的意见就是他们两个都disagree某一个statement。

如果意见不一致，是否应该用类似disagree with each other之类的话？现在鬼子用的是：they would disagree about the truth. 翻成中文：他们不同意这样的事：酒后开车危险。即：他们两个一致不同意，而不是不同意对方的意见。

请指正。

俺来说两句：这题是问两人观点有什么不一致。A的关键在“social”上 - “social
drinker”是指喝酒走过场的人，不是酒鬼heavy drinker。Steven认为SD有问题，
Miguel认为SD没问题，酒鬼才有问题。所以A是分歧点。
