After a few weeks’ experience, apprentice jewelers can usually begin to discriminate, though not with absolute certainty, genuine diamonds from imitation diamonds.

(A) genuine diamonds from imitation diamonds

(B) genuine diamonds apart from imitations

(C) between genuine diamonds and imitation diamonds

(D) among genuine diamonds and imitation diamondsC

(E) whether diamonds are imitation or genuine

和discriminate... between...

我知道distinguish的用法是distinguish between A and B或者distinguish A from B, Both are OK

discriminate among sth / discriminate between区别; 辨别 / discriminate...from. 分清......的差别

有NN给过一公理:人做主语用between...and,非人主语用from

LDOCE:(供参考)

[intransitive and transitive]to recognize a difference between things
ᅳsynonym differentiate

discriminate between
Newborn babies can discriminate between a man's and a woman's voice.

discriminate something from something
the process of learning to discriminate fact from opinion

A test is useful for discriminating those students who have reached a higher level from those at a lower level.

The Columbia Guide to Standard American English.  1993.

The intransitive verb discriminate can combine with the prepositions between and among (I can discriminate between whole milk and skim milk. Experienced cooks can discriminate by name among many forms of pasta), and in a specialized sense meaning “to avoid racial discrimination,” usually in the negative, intransitive discriminate appears without a following preposition: I’ve been taught that in racial matters, you ought never to discriminate. Transitive discriminate takes a direct object followed by a prepositional phrase, usually with from: You must learn to discriminate the good kind of cholesterol from the bad kind. The transitive uses are rarely pejorative; intransitive ones may be either pejorative or ameliorative.

"When you come to a composition, you must try to discriminate between facts and opinions."

discriminate v.tr.
To perceive the distinguishing features of; recognize as distinct:
discriminate right from wrong.

却没有找到关于discriminate between... and...

Les MM,discriminate between... from...

LES MM。you are so sweet.
