A选项，which用在这个地方逻辑表达不清，后面的部分并不是修饰前面waters的，而从逻辑意思表达而言，是修饰整个主句的，因此在这里做地点状语，where能清晰的表达这一点。 至于D选项，首先从语法上来看，instead of 是个介词短语，因此后面只能跟名词或动名词，而它后面却跟了一个in开头的介宾短语，这是肯定不对的；另外再从句意上看，这里没有替代的意思，而是比较。
