这个是比较的省略题谁能够把省略的内容补出来啊我补不出来呵呵
还有谁能解释下 in far greater numebers than 和 in numebers far greater than 有啥区别阿
至于时态我认为 see 的动作应该在 train 之后所以一般过去时用在 see 身上不对吧

省略方面我印象最深的是 be 必须省略这个 have 在这里可不可以省略?

高手回答下以上问题阿
我觉得这个题目很典型阿 GMAT的两个难点考点不就是省略和比较么?

个人觉得这道题目应该选择C选项。
首先分析一下句子结构，这个句子有一个平行结构，Scientists have trained their telescopes on Arp.229, a pair of merging galaxies, and saw stars exploding in numebers far greater than expected.
而且包含一个More than（greater than)的比较结构，比较对象是star numbers exploding and star numbers the scientist expected. 而形容词Far用于形容greater than （远远超出）。所以修饰的位置应该是：far greater numbers than...

而后该比较结构包含一个省略。far greater numbers than expected其实应该是far greater numbers than numbers the scientists expected. 省略了主语。
若是分句中省略主语，这时可将as／than看作比较分句的主语。

至于时态是have seen 还是saw从语法角度来说，这两种时态在这里应该都是可以的。但是含义不同而已。

我还是有几个疑问呵呵交流阿
首先 C 和E 只有 saw 和 have seen 的区别别的都一样如果在这2个中选而时态又都可以的话那么为什么不选 E 和前面保持一致那样不是更好么?

看了你关于省略的部分我不是太清楚
in numebers far greater than expected.
in far greater numebers than expected

据我所知 : 只有当than后面共用前面的主或谓语或宾语时可以省略
这就要求完全一样
那么是不是 than 后面的省略还原成如下:
按照c还原的话 saw stars exploding in far greater numebers than in expected numbers
按照A还原的话 saw stars exploding in numebers far greater than in expected numbers.
上述两种还原对不?怎么比较?

应该是选E，时态上saw和have seen是不平行的；
D的话，修饰词应尽量靠近，numebers than expected这种方式比较好，因为比较的对象就是numbers

呵呵此题正确答案是E
saw在这里不符合平行结构无明显时间标志词或逻辑要求用过去时
D和E的 and have seen 以及seen 都是可以的

我问的题目中 D错误在than后面的
我还有点疑问就是本体中的比较省略怎么还原以及in numbers far greater than 和 in far greater number than 又什么区别？又人为我解惑么？谢谢了

now with numbers five times greater than这种形式以前在一道老题里面也是错的……umm...不过我觉得单纯看in numbers far greater than 和 in far greater number than没有区别。
但是本题里面如果前面有了exploding in numbers far greater than，这个far greater than有做状语的歧义。
但是如果是the numbers of stars exploding are far greater than expected就是正确的，因为有are的存在避免了上面的歧义。
所以在本题，in far greater number than更好。
