E中是省略speeds... 不是同一个speeds，为何可以省略？难道不需要补出么？ 比如OG上：Protein in rice is of higher quality than that in wheat（不同protein） 我怎么觉得protein这句和这道题是个反例呢。。。

省略的原则，一般来说至少两条，一是省略的必然是已出现不过的，二是省略后的必然不产生歧义。一条没有达到就会出现问题。 比起第一题，先说说后面两题吧 According to a 1996 survey by the National Association of College and University Business Officers, more than three times as many independent institutions of higher education charge tuition and fees of under $8,000 a year than those that charge over $16,000. A. than those that charge B. than are charging C. than to charge D. as charge E. as those charging 这一题由于as...as首先排除ABC，最后两个单从语法上看都是正确的，但意思却大不相同。根据原文，作者想表达的是，收费8000的机构是收费16000机构的3倍多，因而，这里是机构与机构比，E中的those则是指代前文的institutions，而非tuition and fees 如果使用D结构，charge除了有vi.收费的意思，还有n.费用的意思，所以d中比较对象的变化改变了句意。并不是单纯因为省略有效性和正确性与否而排除的。
Protein in rice is of higher quality than that in wheat 之所以要补出that主要是为了平行吧，ets很讲究美观的= =
而楼主的第一题，省略speeds并不会引起歧义，speeds和it不同，it本身就是特指。而这一题的重要问题可能在后面 最重要的是，这个考试是选相对较佳选项。 首先由于介词要用at，排除AB，然后C中是higher as，不对，要排除。d中than后面的that回到原文，紧跟着currently possible，不恰当。于是变成E作者: fannybeibei 时间: 2010-8-9 21:44

mark，charge在句子中应该做动词，名词的话讲不通。。
