commitment不能用smaller
young people 和parents and grandaparents时间不同，所以助动词要补出，had

谓语has与had对应

young people has与their parents and grandparents had结构对应平行

谢谢 YUEQIANCHENG, 那么什么时候用LESS 什么时候用 smaller, 是因为commitment 是抽象含义名词吗?
我知道than前从句有宾语,后面要动词补出, 时间也有讲究吗? 还有其他情况一定要动词补出的吗

时间上,应该是时态不一样,才应动词不出,对吗

是否需要补出动词要看你的比较对象是什么
就是说只有比较的是主语才需要补出动词，并且一般而言是比较词的前面有完整的主谓宾时，为了避免比较对象不知道究竟是和主语做比较还是和宾语做比较，这时候一定要补出动词；如果说比较词的前面只有主谓，没有宾语时，如果在时态上没有什么差别，一般就不补出了，但是补出也不是错的（如果别的选项都有硬伤的话）

1）本题中有一个less的特殊知识点。在“动词+more/less of +名词”结构中，less of 作状语修饰动词,而跟后面的名次没有关系。是指有更多/更少的某种行为或动作。再者smaller指体型、型号什么的。
2）句中的比较结构，是主谓宾结构+than+名词。在这种结构中，后面的名词极易与前面的主语、宾语形成比较对象不清。

less那个是感觉.....说不清楚

对于比较里面助动词的补出问题，我原来整理的笔记给你写出来吧：
只用当比较对象是主语时，才涉及助动词补出问题，两种情况补出
1、前句除主语外还有其他可比较名词（比如宾语）
2、不同时间的比较
