C. The lines of competition are clearly defined in the more established industries, unlike the Internet 对比错误 where 错误 they are blurred and indistinct, as companies that compete
D. Unlike more established industries, where GMAT中大部分用where都不对, 应该用in which the lines of competition are clearly defined, they前面复杂的句式让这个指代不明, 不知道是industries还是lines are burred and indistinct in the Internet industry, as companies that compete

我觉得A最为平行，比如in a young child 和 in an adult learner 还是就是whereas和and都是连词可以用来排除，
完全事后诸葛亮的想法。请指教！

Whereas的词性是连接词 conj.当然可以连接两个句子，所以不错。
B理解不通呀

这题选A。大家关于这题讨论了很多年了，我觉得还是A对。因为one day不能做adj.形容Company。
插曲，记得有位同事的分析中称，Whereas和Although的意思是有区别的，如果whereas的句子换成although，就改变的句意。
加上上一道题的例子，是否可以大胆预测，
如果出现了whereas，就一定选择whereas这个选项。反之亦反。
大家有没有进一步的例子可以佐证或者反证这个观点？

我觉得B不是理解不通

今天刚学到一个点应该可以解释B不对
当多套主谓在一个句子中出现时，需要加标点将其隔开
所以B 的and 前必须有逗号
whereas for adults each language occupies a distinct area of the brain and language areas overlap in a young child.
改为
whereas for adults each language occupies a distinct area of the brain， and language areas overlap in a young child

我完全同意hanlei8492的说法，A里面的one day是作为时间状语用来修饰compete的，"compete one day"和"go to school today"是一样的结构。最后面的the next是the next day的省略，意思是“今天还在compete的公司明天可能就会变成partners”, 这才是原文想表达的意思，因为原文说的就是internet industry的competition是indistinct的。如果从这个层面去理解B选项就完全不通顺了。所以这道题的正确答案应是A。

我也认同whereas和although的意思有细微的差别，whereas表达的是“然而”，前后连接的内容更加平衡，转折效果没有although那么强。Although表让步，更想要强调后半部分和更强烈的突出反差，也就是中文所说的“欲扬先抑”或“欲抑先扬”。两者的差别可以从下面两句话看出：

Some people like coffee, whereas others like tea. 此时作者对coffee或者tea并没有十分明显的好恶之分，只是在陈述事实。
Although some people like coffee, others like tea. 此时作者想强调tea，如果此句在阅读文章中出现，下面一句一定会继续论述tea而不是coffee。

所以我们可以看出来，whereas和although还是有细微区别的，可能就类似于and和as well as一样，and并列时前后是绝对的平衡，而as well as就偏向于强调前者。

而且在GWD-18-Q2里面大家所讨论到的A选项whereas前后比较对象“each language”和“language areas”不对等，其实whereas结构前后比较对象的要求并没有like/unlike那么严格，前后如果对等当然好，但是不对等也ok，prep07语法笔记的#54题和prep08的#241题就是例子。

但是有关hanlei8492谈到的如果出现了whereas，就一定选择whereas这个选项。反之亦反。其实我认为GMAT语法讲究的归根结底还是一个清楚简洁正确的表达意思，总结太多这样的规律有时反而会影响解题思路。因为有些题目里面的whereas选项里面是有明显的错误的，或者不清楚不简洁，那么就必须去选其他的选项（迄今为止倒是没有见过把whereas改成although的，只见到过把unlike改成whereas的或者把whereas去掉的，欢迎大家继续补充）

比如说前几天模考prep07遇到的这道题（prep07#68）

Whereas heat transferred between theocean and the atmosphere occurs more rapidly when the

ocean is warmer than the air, it is slowwhen the ocean is colder.

(A) Whereas heat transferred between theocean and the atmosphere occurs more rapidly when

the ocean is warmer than the air, it isslow when the ocean is colder. it此时只能指代heat，逻辑意思不对
