本人选C 并认为E 有问题在于unlike atomic reactors,和Nuclear fusion。
reactors至少是一个东西， 而Nuclear fusion是一个物理过程，怎么能在一起比较？
而又不知道C的明显错误在哪里。
C中merging the nuclei of atoms rather than splitting them apart是状语成分，与as 连接的独立从句不对等，as连接的比较结构应是：A do, as B do. －一家之言

（当然如果从伴随动作和主句动作的关系，从not but, instead of, rather than的用法，和as do…等代表动作的意义上认真看懂题分析，也可以首先分析出正确的并列关系：nuclear reactors 同nuclear fusion，排除A，B，C，然后D中is done没根据，然后进而分析出答案E来。但没有从上面第二个方面考虑来的快）
