.“A is to B what X is to Y ”/ “what X is to Y A is to B”.
Look at the examples:
1). The man who can’t be trusted is to society what a bit of rotten timber is to a house.
（不能信赖的人对于社会，正如朽木对于房子一样。）
译成：“A对于B正如/ 就像X对于Y 一样。”
（也可以把what 从句放在句首，再用一个 “that”加在后面的句子上。）
2). Air is to us what water is to fish.
3). Money is to her what muscle is to the body.
4). What the leaves are to the forest, that to the world are children.
(树叶对于森林，正像小孩对于世界一样。)
5). What the blueprint is to the builder (that) the outline is to the writer.
