答案是A,可我觉得E也可以啊 this不可以指代has since declined or plateaued for most species吗?

b，句子结构不完整，but前面有逗号，所以后面应该是一个完整的句子。
c，which指代错误。
d，句子结构不完整。
e，this指代不对，而且this不能单独指代事物，要加修饰。（当时新东方刘易斯讲的时候是这么说的：this不能裸奔，it可以裸奔）

综上所述，选a啦

E 中前半部分which peaked in 1989 but has since declined or plateaued for most species, 句子不完整，没有谓语

可是prompting前面加逗号，也就是现在分词前面加逗号不应该修饰主句主语吗，也就是the total catch,可是按照句意应该是这个decline促进了conservation effort啊
求解答

prompting作伴随结果状语，逻辑主语是前面整句话而不是prompting
