Also, each was does not properly refer to men and women. 那如果我将E修改成如下，不知可不可以？ E. that occurred when each of them was a child. E. that occurred as each of them was a child.(OG中说的，when为什么不能换成as呢？)

应该是可以的,E里的each主要是指代不对，因为young men and women是复数。
E. that occurred when each of them was a child. E. that occurred as each of them was a child.(OG中说的，when为什么不能换成as呢？) When 和 as 都可以引导时间状语从句，但是还是有很大的区别的，简单的说when后面的动词广泛些，可以是短暂的也可以是持续的，但as后面的动词有延续的含义如 as years go by...作者: foleygump 时间: 2010-5-28 12:23
