1、平行结构首先要意思合理（1）numbers of “若干、许多”不能和vast amounts 构成平行结构（2）numbers of staff memebers说法累赘

NO.1, 这题主要是考STAFF是集合名词, 全体职员, 全体工作人员. STAFF MEMBERS 是重复的说法, NUMBERS OF STAFF 意思说不通哦. 如果要表达全体工作人员的成员的意思, 可以说是STAFFS, OR A MEMBER OF A STAFF.
NO.2, "主谓之间没有同位语成分，却用逗号分开，我想这是不对的。" C 中主谓之间有豆号吗? 我怎么没看明白呢?

thank everyone! agree with carefield, staff确实是集合名词, 现在我明白了, 这类的集合名词不能和members连用,意义重复. 都怪我上新东方时没仔细听, 现在回忆一下,好像白大侠也是这么讲的. 多谢各位解答! 另外, 200题, 我只是想确认一下主谓之间没有插入成分能否加逗号, 现在看来大家都一致同意.主谓之间没有插入成分不能加逗号, 否则会造成句子中断. 作者: carefield 时间: 2003-6-4 12:06

thank carefield, u are so careful in reading and responsible for ur answer. thank u again! while, i still agree with ur original answer, because the SC in GMAT is more rigorous, so even if the usage of "staff members" is correct in RC or CR, it is likely wrong in SC.
on the other hand, in this question, answer D is better than C because D accords with the parallelism "neither vast amounts of money nor a large staff" adj.(vast)+n.==adj.(large)+n.
and as what u said, the meaning of D is also better than C.
