标题: seem的用法,白勇语法网络课堂37题

37. Seeming to be the on1y organization fighting for the rights of poor people in the South, Hosea Hudson,a 1aberer in Alabama, joined the Communist party in 1931.
(A)Seeming to be
(B)As
(C)In that they seemed
(D)Since it seemed
(E)Because it seemed to be

他讲的d答案是因为seem要加to be,所以d错;张道真语法上面明明说seem是可以直接加名词的。另外,c选项,如果把they改成it,是不是也对?

1,Usually 'seem to be' is used before noun phrase. 37 is a example.

2, Yet before noun phrase describing subjective feeling, 'to be' can be omitted, especially in British English.

"It seems a pity, but I can't see you this weekend。"
